The Property and its surroundings

Le Roc des Milandes is superbly located with everything on hand to ensure a wonderful holiday within a few kilometres. The property itself is detached, comfortable and sunny, with splendid, sweeping views. It is an ideal base for lots of varied activities within a 15km (10 mile) radius.

Prehistory

The area around the 'capital of Prehistory', Les Eyzies, has a wealth of attractions. The museum, renovated in 2004, has something to interest everyone, from specialists to children.

Monuments

The Dordogne River has been a key historic thoroughfare, facilitating trade and witnessing conflicts. Here, the river passes through the Valley of the Five Castles (Castelnaud, Marqueyssac, Fayrac, Beynac, les Milandes). Sarlat and surrounds is second only to Paris for the density of its historic monuments.

The countryside

The countryside, both in its natural state and in the area's beautiful gardens, provides numerous opportunities for days out. The gastronomy of the region, based on the rich local produce, is highly regarded the world over.

Events and activities

Tourism has been developing slowly but steadily in this area for half a century. Visitors from diverse backgrounds are attracted to the authenticity of the region, reflected in various cultural attractions and artistic events, as well as a good range of sporting facilities.
